IRON BACK NURSING CHAIR
Project type
upcycle
Date
FEBRUARY 2024
Location
CHIPPENHAM
This is a Victorian Iron back nursing chair with turned wooden feet and original castors.
Fully restored and recovered in a cotton/linen blend fabric with contrasting velvet to the buttons and back.
The seat is sprung and natural stuffings have been used as much as possible. The style of manufacture means the process of upholstery involves nearly all hand stitching as the frame itself is made of iron instead of wood. This provides a unique finish.
Finished with double piping around the legs.
We found this chair at an auction and took a chance on it not knowing the condition and what delights would be revealed upon stripping. We were extremely happy with the results.
